Until we can get nationalized Railways, let’s do the next best thing and have cities buy up the railroads near them
In other news the only city that has done this, wants to sell their railroads to Norfolk Southern in exchange for the equivalent of 60 years of the revenue from the railroad
YES, YES YES YES YES YES YES YES now this is progress
No, it is literally the opposite of progress, The City of Cincinnati is SELLING a garenteed revenue source and piece of public infrastructure to a private entity for less than 100 years of what they make from it, to put in a TRUST FUND, that will get embezzled, stolen from and fail to fund the infrastructure projects it promises to fund
Oh shit I read all this completely wrong (my tired ass thought it said they were BUYING the rail from the NF)
Now I feel bad sorry mate
It’s fine, I mostly just wanted to explain in case other people misread the post also
Not to be controversial B U T. I think 3rd/2nd shift public buses should be a thing. If you work the graveyard or a 2nd shift with weird hours you deserve to be able to get home regardless if you have a car or not.
I also think that there needs to be (a) bus line(s) to and from the cities to the rural areas. Yes this also means “rural” as in those ‘southern gothic aesthetic’ rural areas.
People should not have to be locked in the cities or in rural areas, they should have the freedom to be able to move around. If you’re low income, older, disabled, or can’t afford a car (bc it’s car + insurance + gas $$) then you’re kind of stuck where you’re at and this is coming from real life experience.
I’m so happy for these people it’s unreal. This is a big part of why sex-positivity and kink are so important. There are many different flavours of healthy mutual intimacy, and it’s not helpful to shut them down just because they’re not mainstream or not for everybody.
A pun post crossed my dash, and I reblogged it with an equally bad pun in return. A couple of my followers find it funny, it’s a good day for everyone.
That was on July 7th.
Virality on Reddit was entirely algorithmic. You could garner a couple crossposts, but the success of a post was entirely dependent on whether or not it hit r/all–the main page of Reddit. If your post does that, it’s immediately exposed to 10x the number of people and immediately gets upvoted.
On my pun post, I get a couple reblogs. And those reblogs get a couple reblogs–nobody really adds any content to the post, it just gets a couple reblogs here and there.
There’s a specific chain of reblogs that I’d like to focus on. The most popular post on this chain has about 25 reblogs on it. Half the posts have three reblogs or fewer. Five posts in this chain have just one reblog total.
But the reblog chain keeps going. And going. It breaches containment many times over. And finally, after a chain THIRTY SIX posts long, at 9:30 AM, July 22nd this morning, it hits a popular account.
ALT
99% percent of the people who have seen the post–virtually unchanged from how it left my dash–have seen it because it was curated by 36 different people. That’s insane to me.
None of those 36 people know that they’re part of this chain. They saw a post, reblogged it, and moved on. If any one of these people had not reblogged, the post would have a fraction of the impact it has.
And yet, after two weeks, the post has effectively hit the main page of tumblr. It was picked up, only because people liked it enough to show it to their followers. There were no algorithms necessary.
You really, truly, cannot get this on any other website.
“feminine urge” “she/they coded” “girl [thing]” the way social media commodifies and memefies gender roles these days is so fucking weird dude.
like idk maybe we should be doing more to break the notion of separating behaviour by gender instead of reinforcing it but with quirky language
like i understand that sometimes people use these memes ironically and that’s fine, but there’s certainly a pattern developing and a lot of people use these memes a lot more earnestly than you’d think
saying “girl dinner” and posting a photo of estrogen is funny though
a pickup truck doing bicep curls in the parallel parking space almost impresses me but a cement truck going down the street doing the shittiest most splotchiest ropeblastingest patchwork job just steals my faggot heart
When I found out Paramount+ was removing Star Trek: Prodigy I bought all 20 episodes of S1 from Amazon Video since that was the only way for me to watch all 20 at the time. On 6/27, I lost access to episodes 10-20. Amazon has done what they can, which isn’t much.
All 20 were accessible when I paid for all 20. The full season is what I was buying. Now, I only have access to 9 of the episodes.
What is the point of buying digital content if they’re just going to steal it back from you afterwards?! Is this not false advertisement?
Seems appropriate
People don’t seem to realize this. Digital purchases are great until the seller no longer has the rights to the media and suddenly its not yours anymore
